Cleveland State Embarks on Weighty Wisconsin Road Trip

Cleveland State basketball fans are dreaming about what seemed improbable at best before the season started: Their Cleveland State Vikings in the big dance in March. While that sounds wonderful, remember it's still only January and there is a lot of Horizon League basketball to be played. The good news, of course, is that the Vikings are 7-0 and as hot of a team as any in NCAA basketball. The bad news is that the schedule now turns to the road, where conference championships are won and lost.

Gary Waters' squad hits the road for four games. The road swing starts in Wisconsin playing Green Bay and Milwaukee. After Wisconsin it is off to Illinois to play University of Illinois Chicago and Loyola. If the upstart CSU team can take care of business and go a solid 3-1 on the road the chances grow for at least a solid #2 seed in the conference tournament which would automatically put Cleveland State in the semi-finals of the Horizon League tournament and also put pressure on Butler, the overwhelming favorite in the preseason, to keep winning so that the Vikings don't shock the conference and steal home court advantage when not only the most ardent Cleveland State fan would have predicted before the season began.

Hip-Hop Rumors: We Don't Need No Rumors Today!

I would like to quickly clarify what happened at the Kanye West show in California. Actually, it was a Common show that Kanye popped up on. Last week I said that Kanye dissed the Grammys. Well, it wasn't at the Anaheim show like I said. This apparently occurred at the Hollywood show at the House of Blues. I wasn't there so I didn't hear it or anything. Also, I heard that in a third verse freestyle, Kanye said “I beat 50."
Thanks a lot, Peter!! (See the pics down below)

EMINEM RUMORS FALSE

There was another crappy Eminem rumor coming out that the Detroit rapper was going to be wrestling in the WWE. Shame on you if you believed that one. It was refuted faster than any other rumor in the history of man.

However, the 6-foot-1, 219-pound junior safety has often been confined to the sidelines due to injuries or being behind Josh Barrett on the depth chart. With Barrett sidelined with a sore knee, Cox finally got an extended chance.

And, sure enough, he has made an impact. Cox had nine tackles after replacing Barrett against Southern California on Thanksgiving, then in the first start of his career had an interception against Arizona.

These past two weeks have been really enjoyable, Cox said. Im making plays and helping out the defense. The coaches have put me in a good position to make plays.

Cox has dealt with knee, back and shoulder injuries as a collegian, and he was awarded a medical redshirt after missing 10 games in 2005.

Ive been waiting, but Ive had a never-give-up attitude, Cox said.

Kowalski on WDFN: Lions shouldn't have a problem trading Rogers

Despite head coach Rod Marinelli stating the Lions will not cut Shaun Rogers, it is expected that the team will continue to aggressively shop the defensive tackle according to MLive.com Lions Insider Tom Kowalski. Kowalski believes the Lions will be able to find a trading partner before everything is said and done.

Kowalski goes on to say, "Bill Parcells absolutely loves Shaun Rogers. The last few years we've talked to him on the conference calls before the Lions played the Cowboys, he has just gushed about the guy. Now obviously there's some strikes against Rogers. He's been overweight, he's had knee problems and the strike for the drug thing, but all it takes is one guy to say 'I can turn this guy around. What a force he's going to be. He's the missing piece to our defense.' That's what you really need."

Kowalski further explains the Lions are not looking for draft picks in return for Rogers.
